What Does Self Care Mean?
When you hear the term self care, what comes to mind? At its core, self care is the practice of nurturing yourself by mind, body, and soul (or as i like to say, skincare, self care, and soul care). It’s about intentionally creating moments that help you feel balanced, refreshed, and aligned.
Some common examples of self care include:
- Slow, mindful mornings
- Epsom salt baths
- Skincare rituals
- Massages
- Walks in nature
Self care looks different for everyone, but the key is tuning into what your mind, body, and soul need at any given moment.

What Does Holistic Mean?
Holistic Wellness is based on the idea that everything is interconnected. Think of it like viewing a city from above, everything flows seamlessly. But when you’re down on the streets, it can be hard to see the bigger picture.
A holistic approach to self care considers the whole person rather than focusing on isolated symptoms. Traditional holistic practices often incorporate:
- Nourishing foods, herbs, and supplements
- Homeopathic remedies and essential oils
- Movement, sound frequencies, and vibrational healing
- Meditation and mindfulness practices
- Energy work and therapeutic touch
These techniques are often used together, creating a well rounded approach to wellness that supports your entire being.

Holistic Self Care VS Modern Medicine
Holistic self care isn’t meant to replace medicine, it’s about finding a balance between natural and scientific approaches. While natural remedies can be powerful not everything natural is inherently safe. (For example, lead, asbestos, and mold are all naturally occurring but can be extremely harmful.)
One challenge with natural ingredients is variability, climate, season, and extraction methods can affect a plants composition. Meanwhile, synthetic ingredients are created with consistency and quality control in mind.
The most beneficial path is often a combination of both holistic and modern medicine, tailored to what works best for you specifically. By blending these approaches, you can create a self care routine that supports your overall well being in a sustainable way.
Taking Action
Holistic self care is all about tuning into what your mind, body, and soul need to feel aligned. Whether it’s a skincare ritual, a mindful movement, or a deep dive into energy work, the key is creating a routine that feels good for you.
